1 cup sugar (for caramel)

1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk

4 large eggs

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

STEP 1: MAKE THE CARAMEL

- In a saucepan over medium heat, add the sugar and cook until it melts and turns a golden brown color. Be careful not to burn it. Once melted, quickly pour the caramel into a round flan mold or individual ramekins, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.


STEP 2: PREPARE THE FLAN MIXTURE

- In a blender, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Blend until smooth and well combined.


STEP 3: ASSEMBLE AND COOK

- Pour the flan mixture over the hardened caramel in the mold. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the flan mold in a larger baking dish and fill the dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the flan mold. Bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.


STEP 4: COOL AND SERVE

- Once baked, remove the flan from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan, invert onto a serving plate, and enjoy the delicious caramel sauce that flows over the top.
